Grape Agate refers to a unique and beautiful variety of chalcedony, a type of microcrystalline quartz. It is known for its distinctive spherical formations that resemble clusters of grapes, giving it the name "grape agate." The individual grape-like structures are botryoidal, meaning they have a smooth, rounded appearance.
It is characterized by its round, bead-like formations that often cluster together. The color can vary and may include shades of purple, green, white, or even blue.
The distinctive grape-like structures form as a result of the chalcedony depositing in concentric layers around a central nucleus, much like the layers of an onion.
